Mammoth Lakes: Pond Skim at Canyon Lodge
The Pond Skim in Mammoth Lakes April 17th, 2016
The annual Pond Skim in Mammoth Lakes is held at Canyon Ski Lodge and signifies the end of the ski season for Canyon Lodge. For those not familiar with the Pond Skim, it is a fun Spring day where skiers and snowboarders gather at the top of a spectator lined gauntlet and speed down the icy slope in an attempt to skim across a 38 degree pool of water. Most participants are unsuccessful, and thankfully so… what fun would it be if everyone made it?
Participants dress up in costumes ranging from bikinis to custom outfits made from beer boxes.
